Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get into crossword puzzles lately. It’s like, everyone talks about how great they are for your brain, and I figured, why not give it a shot? So today, I decided to dive in, head first. The whole thing’s called “willing crossword,” apparently.

Finding a Crossword
First things first, I needed a crossword to actually do. I didn’t have any of those fancy newspaper subscriptions, so I just googled “free online crossword puzzles.” A bunch of sites popped up, some looked kinda sketchy, but eventually I found one that seemed alright.
Starting the Puzzle
I picked a puzzle that said “easy” – gotta start somewhere, right? The screen loaded, and there it was, a big grid of black and white squares. Honestly, it looked a little intimidating at first. I just stared at it for a bit, like, “Okay, where do I even begin?”
Figuring Out the Clues
I started reading the clues. Some of them were super straightforward, like “A baby cat.” Easy peasy, “kitten.” I typed that in, and boom, it fit! That was a good feeling. Others were a little trickier. Stuff like “Opposite of black” — classic that’s easy, “white”. It took me a few seconds, but I got it.
Getting Stuck (and Unstuck)
Of course, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. There were definitely clues that stumped me. One was something about a type of fruit, and I just couldn’t figure it out. I tried guessing a few times, but nothing worked. I even used that little “reveal letter” button, but I still felt like I was cheating a little. I did, It’s my first Day.
The “Aha!” Moments
The best part was when I finally figured out a clue that had been bugging me. It’s like this little lightbulb goes off in your head, and you’re like, “YES! I got it!” Those moments are super satisfying, and they definitely kept me going.

Finishing (or Not Finishing)
I didn’t actually finish the whole puzzle today. I got through a good chunk of it, but there were still some empty squares staring back at me. I decided to call it quits for the day – my brain felt pretty fried, and I got tired.
My Record:
- Started with: Easy puzzle.
- Used: reveal letter button.
- Finished: About 60% of the puzzle.
- Feeling: Pretty good! It was fun, challenging, and definitely made me think.
I think so.
