Okay, so you guys know I’m all about trying new stuff, especially when it comes to my look. Recently, I got super inspired by Sean Strickland’s hair. The dude’s a beast in the octagon, and his long, kinda messy hair just adds to the whole vibe, you know?

First things first, I had to assess the situation. My hair was… okay. Medium length, kinda boring. Definitely not the “I might punch you in the face” length Strickland rocks. So, step one was obvious: stop cutting it. Sounds easy, right? But man, those split ends were taunting me.
Then I started doing some digging online. I watched a bunch of interviews with Strickland, trying to see if he ever mentioned his hair routine (spoiler: he didn’t). But I did notice a few things. His hair always looked kinda dry, but not in a bad way. More like… natural. So I figured, less is more.
Here’s what I changed:
- Stopped washing my hair every day. I was a daily shampooer, which is apparently a HUGE no-no for longer hair. Now I wash it maybe twice a week.
- Switched to a sulfate-free shampoo. Heard it’s gentler on the hair, helps keep it from drying out too much.
- Started using a leave-in conditioner. Just a little bit, after washing. Helps with the tangles and keeps it from getting too frizzy.
- Embraced the mess. I used to be all about perfectly styled hair. Now? I just kinda let it do its thing. A little bit of sea salt spray helps add some texture.
The growing out part was the toughest. There were times when I wanted to just chop it all off. It looked awkward, it got in my face, it was annoying. But I stuck with it. I’d tie it back in a low ponytail when I was training or just hanging out at home.
Now, after a few months, it’s starting to look pretty good. It’s not quite as long as Strickland’s yet, but it’s getting there. It’s got that kinda rugged, unkempt look that I was going for. I even started getting a few compliments, which is always nice.

Here’s the thing I learned: It’s not just about the length. It’s about the attitude. Strickland’s hair fits his personality. He’s a tough guy who doesn’t give a damn what anyone thinks. So, if you’re gonna rock the long hair, you gotta own it. You gotta be confident. You gotta be a little bit of a badass.
Still got a ways to go before I can truly say I’ve achieved peak Sean Strickland hair, but I’m happy with the progress. Maybe I’ll even start training MMA. Just kidding… mostly.
