Okay, so today I went to see the Clemson Tigers, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience. I’ve always heard about the passion surrounding this team, but to actually see it firsthand was something else.
I started the day by checking out some of the gear at a local store. I saw that they had a bunch of stuff – jerseys, hats, hoodies, you name it. Looked like everything was officially licensed, which is pretty cool. You could tell this wasn’t just some random stuff; it was all about Clemson. This store seemed to have a full focus on Clemson University.
After browsing the merch, I figured it was time to head over to the stadium. I had heard about something called the “Tiger Walk,” which apparently happens two hours before kickoff. I was told to park in the P-3 lot, also called IPTAY lot 5. It was a bit of a maze to find it. From what I understood, that’s where the team gets off their buses and walks into the stadium, all the way to the WestZone, I guess, of Memorial Stadium.
- Find parking lot.
- Wait for buses.
- Watch the team walk.
The Mascot
I also learned a bit about the history of the team. They’ve been called the Tigers since way back in 1896. The name comes from the coach’s old school, Auburn University. That’s a cool little piece of history, I thought. They used to have a mascot called the “Southern Gentleman,” which was basically a dude in a fancy suit and top hat. I think that’s a pretty funny image.
So there I was, right in the middle of all the Clemson action. This place, Clemson, is a nice little town, all centered around the university. And the Tigers, man, they are a big deal. The energy and excitement were definitely buzzing. It was a day of discovering what the Clemson Tigers were all about, from the gear to the traditions to the history. Pretty neat, if you ask me.
