Okay, let me tell you about this “Ravishing Russian” thing I tried making the other day.

Getting Started
Heard the name somewhere, sounded kinda fancy, you know? “Ravishing Russian”. Got me curious. Thought, why not try whipping one up myself? See what all the fuss is about, if there even is any fuss. I like trying out new drinks now and then, keeps things interesting.
So, first thing, had to figure out what actually goes in it. Didn’t have a recipe card just lying around. Did a quick search in my old notes, couldn’t find anything specific. So, I decided to just kinda wing it based on the name. “Russian” usually means vodka, right? And “Ravishing”… well, that sounds like it needs something extra, something smooth or maybe fruity.
The Process
Went over to my drinks cabinet. Pulled out the vodka, that was the easy part. Found some coffee liqueur in the back, figured that fit the “Russian” theme, like a Black or White Russian cousin. For the “Ravishing” part, I spotted some raspberry liqueur I bought a while back and haven’t used much. Thought that might give it a nice kick and color.
Grabbed a decent short glass, one of those tumbler types. Filled it up with ice. Always need plenty of ice, keeps it properly cold.
Then came the pouring part. Didn’t bother with precise measurements. Just went by eye, by feel. Poured in a good slug of vodka first. Then about half as much coffee liqueur. Added a splash of that raspberry stuff – didn’t want it too sweet.

- Vodka (the base)
- Coffee Liqueur (the ‘Russian’ bit)
- Raspberry Liqueur (the ‘Ravishing’ touch)
Gave it a good stir with a long spoon. Watched the colors swirl a bit. Didn’t look too bad, actually. Kind of a dark reddish-brown.
The Result
Moment of truth. Took a sip. Hmm. Okay. It wasn’t bad. The vodka punch was there, definitely. Coffee flavor came through strong, and the raspberry gave it this little fruity tang at the end. Was it “ravishing”? Eh, maybe that’s stretching it a bit. It was decent, though.
It was pretty strong, maybe I went a bit heavy on the vodka. Or maybe the combo just makes it feel that way. It’s drinkable, for sure. Easy enough to make, just pouring stuff into a glass. No complicated shaking or anything.
Would I make it again? Yeah, maybe. If I had the stuff on hand and wanted something a bit different from the usual. It’s a solid drink, nothing earth-shattering, but a good experiment. Glad I tried it out. That’s how you find new favorites, right? Just gotta try things.
