Alright, so you wanna hear about my “davis tank next fight” practice run? Buckle up, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride.

First off, I started by watching a bunch of Tank Davis highlights and breakdowns. I mean, gotta know your subject, right? I soaked up his footwork, the way he throws that devastating left hook, and his overall ring presence. Just watched Youtube videos, nothing fancy.
Then, I went to the gym. Didn’t have a sparring partner ready, so I focused on shadow boxing. I really tried to mimic Tank’s movements, imagining I was in the ring, feeling the pressure, and looking for openings. I threw jabs, crosses, and of course, practiced that signature left hook over and over. Felt kinda silly at first, but I got into it.
Next, I hit the heavy bag. This is where I really tried to put some power behind my punches. I visualized my opponent, picturing his head snapping back with each blow. I worked on combinations, mixing up my punches, and trying to keep my hands up and my feet moving. I’m not gonna lie, my arms were burning after a few rounds.
After that, I did some speed bag work. I’m not great at it, but it helps with hand-eye coordination and rhythm. I just kept at it, trying to get a good flow going, and keeping my hands light and quick.
To wrap it up, I did some conditioning drills. Jump rope, push-ups, sit-ups, the whole shebang. Gotta be in shape to last in the ring, even if it’s just in my head. Felt like death afterwards but good death haha.

The Results?
- My left hook definitely feels a little sharper.
- My cardio is still a work in progress. Need to run more.
- I need a sparring partner. Shadow boxing is cool, but it’s not the same as actually facing someone.
Overall, it was a good practice session. I learned a lot about Tank Davis and about my own limitations. I am planning on doing some road work to boost my gas tank and I have been thinking about getting a real partner. It’s gonna be a long journey, but I’m determined to get better. Hopefully I can provide another update after securing a real life partner. Peace out folks!
