Alright, so I got this idea stuck in my head a while back – I really wanted to get my hands on one of those Kodai Senga Japanese jerseys. You know, the ones from before he hit the big leagues stateside. Always liked his pitching style, that ghost fork is something else.

Starting the Hunt
First thing I did, obviously, was hit the internet. Just started searching around. Typed in stuff like “Kodai Senga Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks jersey”, “Senga Japanese team jersey”, you get the picture. Man, it wasn’t as simple as I thought. Lots of results, sure, but finding a legit source? That was the tricky part.
- Saw a bunch on auction sites, but I’m always a bit iffy about those.
- Found some stores, but they looked kinda… well, not super trustworthy. Bad photos, weird descriptions.
- Some places only had the new MLB stuff, which wasn’t what I was after this time.
Spent a good few evenings just clicking through pages, comparing what I saw. You gotta be careful, lots of fakes out there. Looked at details, stitching, placement of the patches in the photos people posted. It’s a bit of a minefield.
Found One and Pulled the Trigger
After a lot of digging, I stumbled onto a site that seemed more promising. Photos looked clearer, descriptions made sense. It wasn’t cheap, mind you. These imported things rarely are. Checked their policies, shipping info, seemed okay. Decided to just go for it. Found the size I needed – always a bit of a gamble with international sizing, but I took my best guess based on their chart. Added it to the cart, went through the checkout. Typed in all my info, crossed my fingers it wasn’t some elaborate scam.
The Waiting Game and Arrival
Then came the wait. You know how it is. They give you a tracking number, and suddenly you’re checking it like three times a day. Took a couple of weeks, maybe a bit more. International shipping, customs, all that jazz. Finally, the day came. Package arrived. Looked a bit beat up from the journey, but nothing too crazy.
Got it inside, opened it up. First impression? Pretty nice. The material felt decent, not flimsy. All the logos and patches seemed right, stitched on properly, not just ironed on cheap stuff. The colors looked good, vibrant.

Pulled it on. Fit was actually pretty spot on. Maybe a tiny bit different from my US jerseys, but comfortable enough. Stood in front of the mirror for a bit, haha. Yeah, felt good.
Was it Worth It?
Absolutely. It took some effort, yeah. Had to do my homework, sift through a lot of junk online, and pay a bit more than I’d like. But having this specific jersey, the Japanese team one, feels kinda special. It’s a cool piece for any baseball fan, especially if you appreciate Senga’s journey. Glad I went through with it.
