Okay, folks, gather ’round. I wanted to share something I finally got around to doing – playing through all the main Telltale Walking Dead games, and doing it in order. It’s been on my backlog forever, and I kept hearing how good the story was, so I thought, right, let’s do this properly.

First thing I had to figure out was the actual order. It wasn’t super complicated, but you know how it is, sometimes there are spin-offs or little extra bits. I did a quick search online, just to make sure I wasn’t missing anything crucial between the main seasons. Didn’t want to accidentally skip ahead or play something out of sync, ruins the whole flow, doesn’t it?
So, I got my list sorted. Here’s how I tackled it, step-by-step:
- Season One: Man, this is where it all began. Started this one up, got introduced to Lee and little Clementine. Right from the get-go, I was hooked. The choices felt like they actually mattered, you know? Stressful stuff, but compelling. I really felt responsible for Clem by the end of it. Took a small break after finishing, just to process. It hits hard.
- 400 Days (DLC): Next up was this little add-on piece. It connects to Season One and apparently sets up some stuff for the next season. It was interesting, shorter stories about different survivors. A nice little bridge, didn’t take too long to get through.
- Season Two: Jumped into this one eager to see what happened next, especially with Clementine. Playing as her felt different, but it made sense. Seeing the world through her eyes after everything… yeah, Telltale knew what they were doing. More tough choices, more gut punches. Standard stuff for this series by now, I guess!
- Michonne: Okay, so this one’s a bit of a side story, focusing on the character Michonne from the comics. I slotted it in here. It was a good change of pace, focusing on a different character with her own baggage. Felt a bit more action-packed maybe? Enjoyed it for what it was, a contained little tale.
- Season Three: A New Frontier: This one felt a bit different. You play mostly as a new guy, Javi, though Clem is still around and a big part of the story. Took a little getting used to, not being Clem full-time, but the story was still engaging. It expanded the world a bit more, showed different groups and conflicts. Still had those classic Telltale choices.
- Season Four: The Final Season: And here we are, the end of the line for Clem’s story. Really felt like things were coming full circle. Seeing Clem all grown up, taking care of AJ, it mirrored the start with Lee in a way. I was pretty invested by this point, obviously. Wanted to see it through. The ending… well, it definitely gave me closure. Felt like a proper conclusion to the journey I started way back in Season One.
Wrapping it up
And that was it! Going through them back-to-back like that, in the right order, was definitely the way to do it. You really feel the continuity, see the characters grow (especially Clem, obviously), and the whole story just lands better. It took a fair bit of time, spread out over a few weeks, but totally worth it.
It’s quite an emotional rollercoaster, be warned if you haven’t played them. But yeah, glad I finally checked this series off my list. Just wanted to share my little gaming project. If you’ve been thinking about playing them, I’d say go for it, and definitely try to play them in sequence like I did. Makes all the difference.
