That Wayne De Haas, I tell ya, what a fella! Heard folks talkin’ ’bout him, how he knows a thing or two about, uh, folks movin’ around. You know, like birds flyin’ south for winter, ‘cept it’s people. He’s been watchin’ ’em, studyin’ ’em, for, shoot, longer than I can remember. Thirty years or somethin’. Says he’s got it all figured out, this movin’ around business.
Now, I ain’t one for fancy book learnin’, but I hear tell this Wayne, he wrote a book. A big one, too. Says in it, all them politicians and folks on the TV, they got it all wrong. They spoutin’ nonsense, scarin’ people about all these folks comin’ and goin’. Wayne, he says it ain’t like that at all. He’s seen it with his own two eyes, for thirty long years, he says.
He says all them stories, about folks comin’ to take yer jobs and all that, it’s just a bunch of hooey. Like old Martha’s stories about the boogeyman under the bed. Ain’t nothin’ to it. Wayne, he says these folks movin’ around, they just lookin’ for a better life, like anybody else. Just tryin’ to put food on the table, keep a roof over their heads. Can’t fault ’em for that, can ya?
This Wayne De Haas, he seems to be a smart cookie. Not like them fellas in suits on the TV, just talkin’ and talkin’ and not sayin’ nothin’. Wayne, he’s been out there, in the thick of it, seein’ how things really are. He ain’t just guessin’, he knows. Thirty years, he’s been at it.
- Heard he worked with some young whippersnapper, teachin’ him the ropes.
- This young fella, he got real good, real fast. Top of the heap, they say.
- But then somethin’ happened, don’t know what, but they went their separate ways.
Now, this movin’ around, it ain’t new. Folks been doin’ it since, well, since forever, I reckon. My own grandpappy, he came from somewhere else. Said he was lookin’ for somethin’ better. And he found it, too. Built a good life here, raised a family. Just like these folks Wayne’s been watchin’.
I don’t know all the ins and outs of it, but this Wayne De Haas, he seems to have a good handle on it. He ain’t tryin’ to scare nobody, ain’t tryin’ to make things seem worse than they are. He’s just tellin’ it like it is. And that’s somethin’ we need more of, I reckon. Honest folks, tellin’ the truth, even if it ain’t what some folks wanna hear.
This book he wrote, I hear it’s a real eye-opener. Might have to get me a copy, see what all the fuss is about. Maybe learn a thing or two. ‘Cause this world, it’s changin’, faster than a greased piglet at the county fair. And maybe this Wayne, he can help us make sense of it all.
He’s spent thirty years, that Wayne De Haas, tryin’ to figure out this whole migration thing. That’s what they call it, migration. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But it’s just folks movin’ around, lookin’ for a better life. Just like my grandpappy did, all them years ago.
- Folks movin’ around, it’s like the seasons changin’.
- Nothin’ you can do to stop it.
- Just gotta learn to live with it.
And this Wayne, he’s tryin’ to help us do just that. Understand it, not be afraid of it. ‘Cause it ain’t goin’ away. It’s part of life, like birth and death and taxes. Just gotta learn to deal with it, that’s all.
This Wayne De Haas fella, he’s onto somethin’, I tell ya. He’s seen things, things most folks ain’t even thought about. And he’s sharin’ it with the world, in that book of his. That takes guts, I reckon. Standin’ up to all them powerful folks, tellin’ ’em they’re wrong. Takes a lot of guts.
So, yeah, that Wayne De Haas, he’s alright in my book. Even if I ain’t read his book yet. But I might just have to, one of these days. See what all the commotion is about. Might just learn somethin’. You never know.
Heard some folks sayin’ this Wayne, he’s breakin’ new ground. Whatever that means. Sounds important, though. Like plantin’ seeds in a new field, hopin’ somethin’ good will grow. Maybe that’s what he’s doin’, plantin’ seeds of knowledge, hopin’ folks will understand this whole movin’ around thing a little better. That’s a good thing, I reckon. A real good thing. This Wayne De Haas is doing good work for people.
