Alright, so fantasy football season rolled around again, like it always does. Got my draft done, and ended up grabbing Saquon Barkley. Pretty happy with that pick, honestly. But then came the usual problem: gotta pick a team name.

My first thoughts were kinda basic. You know, stuff like “Barkley’s Crew” or something simple with his name. Didn’t really feel right, too plain. I wanted something a bit more clever, something that fits him.
So, I started thinking more about it. What comes to mind with Saquon? His crazy leg muscles, those powerful runs, the jukes. He’s on the Eagles now too, so maybe something Philly related? I spent some time just brainstorming, jotting down random words and phrases connected to him.
Digging for Ideas
I started looking around, just seeing what kind of stuff people come up with for player names. You see a lot of the same puns recycled every year. Some are okay, but many are just weak. I wasn’t looking for a master list, just some sparks, you know? Trying to get the creative juices flowing.
My process was pretty simple. I’d think of a common phrase, a movie title, a song lyric, and then try to jam “Saquon” or “Barkley” in there somewhere. Does it sound funny? Does it make sense? Is it too long? That was key, didn’t want a name that wraps three lines in the standings.
I focused on things related to his power, his speed, maybe even his comeback story. Some ideas were instant trash, others made me chuckle. I kept a little list going on my phone.

Names I Considered
After filtering out the garbage, here are a few that I thought had some potential. Just sharing what I cooked up or riffed on during my process:
-
Saquon for the Money
-
Oh Saquon You See
-
All Barkley, No Bite (Maybe better if he underperforms?)
-
Saquon Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
-
My Saquon Your Saquon
-
Begin Again (A nod to the change of scenery)
-
Quadzilla
-
Saquon The Destroyer
Ended up picking one from my scribbled notes for my main league. Felt pretty good about it. It’s always a bit of fun finding that right name. Now, the real work begins – managing the team and hoping Saquon absolutely crushes it this year. That’s the goal, right?
