Okay, so I wanted to figure out what this whole “Utah mascot” thing was about. I’d heard some buzz, so I figured, why not dive in and see what I could find? I’m not a huge sports guy, but I like a good project.

First, I just started poking around. I mean, that’s where everyone starts, right? Just generally searching for “Utah mascot.”
That brought up a bunch of stuff, mostly about some bird called “Swoop.” I figured that had to be it.
So I read a few pages, and it looks like Swoop is a red-tailed hawk, that makes sense.
Digging a Little Deeper
After that, I started to get more details. It seems Swoop has been around since 1996, pretty old I think.

Putting It All Together
So, basically, from what I gathered, if someone talks about the Utah mascot, they’re almost definitely talking about Swoop, the red-tailed hawk. He’s been the mascot for a good long while. Mystery solved, I guess!
