Okay, so I’ve been trying to get into sports betting, just for fun, you know? And the FIBA World Cup is going on, so I thought, “Why not try to predict a game?” I decided to tackle the USA vs. Lithuania game. Here’s how it went down:
First, I just looked at the teams. Straight up, I figured USA would be the favorite. They’re, well, the USA. They’ve got a team full of NBA stars. Lithuania, I didn’t know as much about, but I knew they were a solid European team.
Then I started digging a little. I checked out some sports news sites, looking for any articles about the game. I wanted to see what the so-called “experts” were saying. Most of them were picking the USA, big surprise, but some mentioned Lithuania’s strong teamwork and shooting. That got me thinking… maybe it wouldn’t be a total blowout.
I also tried to find some stats. Like, how have these teams been playing in the tournament so far? What are their average points per game? Any key players injured? I looked at some official FIBA stats and tried to wrap my head around them. Scoring averages, rebounds, assists…it was a lot to take in!

After gathering all this “data,” I still had to make my own prediction. Honestly, my gut still said USA. Their talent level is just insane. But, I also thought Lithuania could keep it respectable. They’re not pushovers.
My (Totally Unprofessional) Prediction
I finally settled on predicting a USA win, but not a complete massacre. I figured Lithuania would put up a good fight and score some points. Maybe something like USA 105, Lithuania 88. I’m not claiming to be a genius, just a guy trying to figure this betting thing out!
The game happened, and it was a wake up call. All that research and Lithuania beat USA, it was an amazing game to watch and my prediction was totally wrong. But at least I learned a little more about International basketball game. I will keep up with my practice for sure!
