Alright, so I got into this game called “MLB The Show” and there’s this mode called “Conquest” that I really wanted to try. I heard it’s a good way to get some cool rewards and stuff. So I jumped in, not really knowing what to expect.
Getting Started
First, I picked my team. I went with the Dodgers, because why not? They’re pretty good. Then, I saw this map of the US, all divided into hexagons. Each hexagon is like a territory you can take over. Sounds easy enough, right?
Learning the Ropes
I started with a few territories and a bunch of “fans” that act like my army. The goal is to take over all the other teams’ territories. You do this by moving your fans around and attacking other teams’ strongholds.
- Reinforce: I could add more fans to my territories to make them stronger.
- Attack: I could move my fans to attack neighboring territories.
- Steal Fans: Before attacking, I could try to steal some fans from the other team. This is like a mini-game where you play a quick baseball game. I failed at this like five times before I finally won.
- Simulate: If I had way more fans than the other team, I could just simulate the battle instead of playing a whole game. Saved a lot of time.
My Strategy (or Lack Thereof)
At first, I was just kind of randomly moving my fans around. I won a few games, took over some territories, but I wasn’t really making much progress. I realized I needed an actual plan.
So, I started focusing on taking over territories connected to my stronghold. This way, I could reinforce them more easily. I also tried to attack weaker territories first, to build up my fan base. It was slow going, but I was starting to get the hang of it. I tried to go straight for the big guys, the teams with the most fans, and I got my butt kicked! Lesson learned.
The Grind
Man, this mode is a grind! It takes a long time to conquer the whole map. You have to play a lot of games, and each game takes a while. But I kept at it, playing a few games each day. Slowly but surely, I started to take over more and more of the map.
I had a few close calls. One time, I almost lost my stronghold because I didn’t leave enough fans to defend it. Another time, I was down to my last territory, but I managed to pull off a comeback and win. Those were some intense moments! It felt like being a general, planning attacks and making sure my back was covered.
Finally, Victory!
After weeks of playing, I finally did it! I conquered the entire map. It felt so good to see all those hexagons in my team’s color. I got a bunch of rewards, like new players and packs of cards. Totally worth the effort.
Conquest mode in “MLB The Show” is definitely a challenge, but it’s also a lot of fun. It’s like a mix of strategy and baseball, and it’s really satisfying to see your team slowly take over the whole country. If you’re looking for a new mode to try in “MLB The Show,” I definitely recommend giving Conquest a shot.
