Okay, so I saw this thing online about making up funny names for your fantasy football team, and it had to do with this guy Calvin Ridley. I thought, “Hey, that sounds like a fun little project.” So, I decided to give it a try myself.
First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen ’cause I’m old school like that. I started by just writing down Calvin Ridley’s name at the top. Then, I thought about what rhymes with Ridley or what sounds kinda like it. It was like those word games you play as a kid, you know?
I scribbled down some pretty silly stuff at first. Like, “Ridley’s Riddles” and “Calvin’s Calamities.” They were okay, but not really making me laugh. I kept at it though, just throwing out whatever popped into my head.

- Didley Ridley
- Calvin and the Chipmunks on a Ridley
Then, I remembered that whole thing about him getting in trouble for betting on games. That’s a big no-no in the sports world, but I figured I could make some jokes about it. So, I wrote down things like “Ridley’s Risky Bets” and “Calvin’s Casino Crew.” Those were a bit more edgy, which I liked. It would attract eyeballs, right?
After a while, I had a whole page full of these goofy names. I picked out a few of my favorites, like “Ridley’s Rollin’ the Dice” and “Calvin’s Sure Thing.” Then I jumped online to see what other people had come up with.
I found some pretty funny ones, not gonna lie. But I also noticed a lot of them were kinda lame or just plain mean. I wanted mine to be clever and funny, but not, like, insulting, you know? I also found that in the four games Ridley played, he has averaged 15 fantasy points per game with a 25.5% target share and 2.45 YPRR. It made me wonder that I should combine these stats with funny names.
Best Names I’ve Created
So, I went back to my list and tweaked a few of them. Like, I changed “Calvin’s Sure Thing” to “Calvin’s 25.5% Sure Thing” because, you know, he’s not really a sure thing, given that whole gambling thing. I also changed the “Ridley’s Rollin’ the Dice” to “Ridley’s Rollin’ the 15 Points Dice.” It made me laugh, so I figured it was good enough.
At the end of the day, I probably spent way too much time on this, but it was a fun little distraction. And hey, maybe I’ll even use one of these names for my fantasy team this year. Who knows?
