Okay, so I was messing around online today and stumbled upon this question: Who’s the heaviest player in NBA history? I got curious and decided to figure it out myself. It turned out to be a bit of a rabbit hole!

First, I googled “heaviest NBA player”. Pretty straightforward, right?
My Research Process
I immediately started seeing some names pop up. The main ones that kept appearing were:
- Oliver Miller
- Eddy Curry
- Sim Bhullar
- And, of course, the legendary Shaquille O’Neal
It seemed like most sources pointed to Oliver Miller. Apparently, he played at 375 pounds at one point, which is HUGE. So, I dug into each of these guys a bit more.
I looked up their listed weights during their playing careers. Some of them, like Shaq, had weights listed for different seasons, and it varied quite a bit. I tried to find the highest listed weight for each of them.
Next, I hit up some NBA forums and fan pages. You know, just to see what the general consensus was among people who really follow basketball. Sometimes, those listed weights aren’t the whole story.

Sim Bhullar, that was an intersting one. The guy is 7’5 and was reported as 360 Ibs. There were a lot of different reports on how much he really was.
The “Winner”
After spending way too much time on this, my conclusion is…it is pretty hard to give a certain answer. It’s probably Oliver Miller.
But there’s always a bit of “unofficial” talk, and some people swear some guys played heavier than they were ever listed.
So, that was my little investigation for the day. Kinda silly, but it was a fun way to kill some time and learn a bit about some big dudes in the NBA!
