Alright, let’s talk about this Tiger Woods fella, when he was just a young’un starting out. You know, a rookie. Folks were buzzin’ about him, like flies on a hot summer day.
Now, I ain’t no golf expert, mind you. I just watch it on the TV sometimes when there ain’t nothin’ else on. But even I could tell this Tiger was somethin’ special. People sayin’ he was gonna be a big deal, and boy, were they right.
See, back in the day, winnin’ a couple of golf thingies, tournaments they call ’em, in a year was a big deal. Like, real big. But this Tiger, he was winnin’ all over the place. Eight times in one year, they say! That’s more than most folks win in a whole career, I reckon.
They was sayin’ he was hittin’ the ball a country mile. And puttin’ it right where he wanted it, too. Not like me tryin’ to throw a rock at a squirrel. Always missin’ the darn thing.
- He was young, real young.
- Won somethin’ called the U.S. Junior Amateur when he was just a kid.
- Then he won it again, and again! Three times! Nobody done that before.
Then he went on to win somethin’ else, the U.S. Amateur. Three times in a row! Heard tell he was down five holes once, and still came back to win. That’s like bein’ way behind in a horse race and still crossin’ the finish line first.
Folks was sayin’ he was the best ever, even back then. And he just kept on winnin’. Major championships, they call ’em. Big ones. He won three of ’em in a row one year! By a whole bunch of strokes, too. Not just squeakin’ by, he was whippin’ the other fellas good.
He was the number one golfer in the whole wide world for years and years. They said he was so good, it was hard to even describe. Just like that fella Rory, they say he’s fantastic too, but Tiger back then, he was somethin’ else.
Now, I don’t know all the fancy golf talk, but I know winnin’ when I see it. And Tiger, he was a winnin’ machine. From the very beginnin’, when he was just a rookie, he was somethin’ special. He made golf excitin’, even for an old lady like me.
He won a whole lot of his golf games, more than anybody else, they say. Somethin’ like 22.8%, That’s a lot, even I can figure that out. He was just better than everyone else, plain and simple.
They talk about his rookie year like it was the start of somethin’ big, and I guess it was. He changed the whole golf game, they say. Made it more popular, brought in more folks to watch. He was a real phenom, that Tiger Woods.
So, yeah, that’s what I know about Tiger Woods’ rookie year. He was young, he was good, and he won a whole heck of a lot. And he kept on winnin’ for a long, long time. A true champion, that’s what he was.
And even now, when he ain’t winnin’ as much, they still talk about him. That’s how you know someone’s made a real mark on the world, when folks keep on rememberin’ ’em, years and years later. Just like that Tiger Woods, the rookie who became a legend.
Tiger Woods’ early career was somethin’ special, no doubt about it. He showed the world what he could do right from the start, and he didn’t let up for a long time. A real inspiration, even for an old gal like me who don’t know a birdie from a bogey.
