Okay, so I’ve been wanting to mess around with Midjourney and create some cool sports-related stuff. I’m a huge basketball fan, and who’s bigger than Michael Jordan, right? The “mj 45 jersey” thing has always been iconic, so I figured, why not try to generate some images with that as the focus?

First, I jumped into Midjourney. Gotta have an account and be on their Discord server, which I already was. If you’re not, it’s pretty easy to set up.
Getting Started
Once I was in, I went to one of the newbie channels. You know, the ones where everyone’s experimenting. Then, I typed in the basic command: /imagine
. That’s the magic word that gets things rolling.
Crafting the Prompt
Now, this is where it gets interesting. I needed to tell Midjourney exactly what I wanted. So, I started with something simple:
/imagine a photo of Michael Jordan wearing his number 45 jersey
I hit enter and waited. It took a minute or two, but then…boom! Four images popped up. They were okay, but not exactly what I was looking for. Jordan looked a little…off. And the jersey details weren’t quite right.
Refining the Image
So, I learned that you gotta be super specific. I tried again, adding more details:

/imagine a high-quality, realistic photo of Michael Jordan, in his prime, wearing the Chicago Bulls number 45 jersey, playing basketball, dynamic pose, intense expression
This time, the results were much better. The images were sharper, Jordan looked more like Jordan, and the jersey was definitely the 45 one. But I still wanted to tweak it further.
I then selected my favourite option from MJ bot, and generated a few variations.
The Final Touches
I played around with different aspect ratios. I found that --ar 3:2
gave me a good, classic sports photo look. I also experimented with adding things like “sweat dripping,” “basketball arena in the background,” and “dramatic lighting.”
I also use the “upscale” and “variations” buttons, and from my testings they made the image way better.

Finally, I got an image I was really happy with! It looked like a legit, professional photo of MJ, soaring through the air in his 45 jersey. It was pretty awesome to see how just a few words could create something so visually impressive.
From start to finish, it just shows you what you can do with it and a bit of prompt-fooling!
