Okay, so I was looking into the SMU Mustangs football team the other day. You know, just trying to get a handle on who’s who for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Let me tell you, figuring out a team’s depth chart can be a bit of a doozy. But it’s kinda fun, like putting together a puzzle.
First off, I started by looking for some general info about the team.
I checked a bunch of different sports websites and fan pages, trying to piece together who the main players are. It’s a bit tricky because things can change, you know? Players transfer, some graduate, and new guys come in. But from what I gathered, it looks like Preston Stone will be back as the starting quarterback, which is great news for them.
Then I started digging into the specific positions. I made a list of all the offensive and defensive positions.
Offensive Positions:
- Quarterback: This is where I wrote down Preston Stone and any potential backups.
- Running Back: I listed out all the players who might be carrying the ball.
- Wide Receiver: Same here, noting down all the guys who’ll be catching passes.
- Tight End: Found out who’s likely to be playing this position.
- Offensive Line: This one’s a bit tougher, as there are several spots (left tackle, left guard, center, right guard, right tackle), so I tried to figure out who might be filling those roles.
Defensive Positions:
- Defensive Line: Similar to the offensive line, I jotted down the potential players for each spot along the line.
- Linebackers: This is another key group, and I listed out all the potential players.
- Cornerbacks: Noted the players who might be covering the opposing team’s receivers.
- Safeties: Same here, trying to find out who the likely starters and backups will be.
Putting it all together
After all that, I created a kind of rough draft of the depth chart. It’s definitely not official, but it gives a pretty good idea of what the team might look like next season. I used a simple table format to organize it all, with columns for each position and rows for the starter, second-string, third-string, and so on.
One of the names that kept popping up was Key’Shawn Smith, so he’s definitely someone to watch. It’s always cool to see how these players develop over time. Of course, this is just my initial take on it. Things could definitely change between now and the start of the season. But that’s part of the fun of following college football, right? It’s always exciting to see how it all unfolds.
Anyway, that’s how I went about figuring out the SMU Mustangs’ potential depth chart for the 2024-25 season. It was a fun little project, and it got me even more hyped for the upcoming games. Hope this was somewhat helpful, or at least interesting!
