Okay, so I gotta tell you guys about this thing I’ve been working on – making a depth chart for the SMU football team. It’s been a bit of a journey, let me tell you.
It all started when I was trying to figure out who was gonna be playing where for the next season. I mean, you gotta know these things if you’re a serious fan, right? So I dove in, headfirst. First thing, I needed to get a handle on all the players, every single one of them.
I began by gathering all the names, which was a task in itself. I scoured the internet. It took forever. But once I had all the names, I started sorting them by position. Quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers – you name it, I categorized it.
- First, I listed out all the quarterbacks.
- Then, I moved on to the running backs.
- After that, I tackled the wide receivers and tight ends.
Then came the tricky part – figuring out the order. Who’s the starter? Who’s the backup? I looked at last season’s stats, who was a senior, who was a transfer and who was injured.
I spent hours, and I mean hours, comparing stats and reading up on each player. I drafted different versions of the chart. I cross-referenced everything. I even noted the jersey numbers next to each name to make it super clear. It’s like putting together a giant puzzle, but with people instead of pieces.
After I had the offense sorted, I moved on to the defense. Defensive line, linebackers, and the secondary – I repeated the whole process. I made notes on who I thought would be starting based on what I could find. Some were obvious, others not so much.
Offensive Positions
- WR-X:
- 9 Smith, Key’Shawn SR/TR
- WR-Z:
- 5 Dixon, Moochie SR/TR
- WR-SL:
- 13 Daniels Jr., Roderick SR
- LT:
- 54 Byrd
Finally, after all that work, I had a pretty solid depth chart. It’s not perfect, and things can always change. Injuries happen, players might transfer, and some might perform better than expected. But overall, I felt pretty good about it.
So there you have it – my adventure in making an SMU football depth chart. It was a lot of work, but I have to say, it was also pretty darn fun. Now I’ve got a good handle on who’s who on the team, and I’m ready for the season to start!
