Alright, so you wanna know ’bout this Smackdown thing, huh? Lemme tell ya, it’s like this…
Is Smackdown taped this week? Well, it’s kinda tricky, not always the same. Sometimes they do it live, you know, right then and there. Like, they say it’s on TV Friday nights, 8 o’clock, on that USA Network thingy. They call it “live,” so I guess that means it ain’t taped that week, they doin’ it right when you watchin’. That’s what they do most Fridays, make it a big deal, the most watched thing on Friday nights, they say.
But then, sometimes, they tape a bunch at once. Like, I heard tell they gonna do two Smackdowns in one night, October 25th, in that big city, New York. Brooklyn, they call it. So, that one week, they tapin’ two shows, but they don’t show ‘em both right away. They show one live, then they save the other one for later. So, it’s taped, but not for that week, see?
- Live Smackdown: Usually Friday nights, 8 PM on USA Network. They say it’s the most watched thing on TV then.
- Taped Smackdown: Sometimes they tape more than one show at a time. Like, they gonna tape two on October 25th.
It’s all a bit confusing, if you ask me. Why can’t they just do it the same way every time? But I guess that’s how they get ya. Keep ya guessin’, ya know?
Now, this Smackdown thing, it’s part of that WWE wrestling stuff. You know, big fellas and gals, all dressed up, pretendin’ to fight. My grandson, he loves it. Always yellin’ at the TV. I don’t get it myself, but it keeps him outta trouble, I guess. They got other shows too, like Raw and that NXT thing. And they have those big pay-per-view shows, like Crown Jewel. That one, they always do it live, and you gotta pay extra to watch it. Heard that Roman fella won that last one, beat that Brock guy. Cheated, probably, they always cheatin’ in that wrestlin’.
So, how do you watch this Smackdown? Well, you can watch it on TV, like I said, Friday nights. Or you can watch it online, on that NBC website or app, they got highlights and stuff. Or you can go see it live, if they comin’ to your town. They got shows all over, even big ones like WrestleMania. You gotta buy tickets for that, though. Costs a pretty penny, I bet.
They been doin’ this Smackdown for a long time, over 20 years they say. Started way back in 1999. Used to be on Tuesdays, then they moved it to Fridays. And they used to call it “Smackdown!”, with an exclamation point. Don’t know why they dropped that. Guess they got tired of yellin’ it, haha!
So, to answer your question straight, is it taped this week? Maybe, maybe not. You gotta check. If it’s Friday night, it’s probably live. But if they taped extra shows, then it might be taped, but you wouldn’t even know it. They good at makin’ it look live even when it ain’t. That’s the magic of TV, I guess. Always foolin’ ya.
