Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about this “Black Myth: Wukong” game lately. It’s based on that old “Journey to the West” story, which I remember kinda liking as a kid. But I wasn’t sure if I should buy the deluxe version or not. I decided to buy the normal version first, you know, just to test the waters.
So, I bought the normal one and started playing. The first thing I noticed was that you’re not actually playing as Sun Wukong, that famous Monkey King guy. You’re this other monkey called the “Destined One.” Kind of a bummer, but okay, I rolled with it.
I started exploring the game world, and man, it’s pretty! Even if it’s not exactly like the book, there are a lot of gods and demons which you can fight with, just like the original story. I mean, they changed some things around, added some new characters and locations, but it still felt like that same universe. I battled some weird creatures, learned some new moves, and slowly started to get the hang of it.
After a few hours in, I was really digging it. The combat felt good, the story was intriguing, and I was having fun just wandering around and seeing what I could find. That’s when I thought, “Maybe I should have gotten that deluxe upgrade after all…”
So, I looked into what the deluxe version actually offered. Turns out, it’s mostly just some extra goodies, like maybe an in-game pet, extra weapons, and clothes for the main character, those kind of things. Nothing that really changes the core gameplay, you know?
After weighing the pros and cons, I decided to stick with the normal version. It’s not that the deluxe stuff isn’t cool, but I’m already enjoying the game as is, and I think the price gap is not that worth. Maybe if I was a super hardcore fan, I’d feel differently. But for a casual player like me, the normal version is more than enough.
My final call is, if you’re on the fence, just get the normal version first. You can always upgrade later if you really love it. But honestly, you might find that the base game is plenty satisfying on its own. You won’t miss the deluxe if you don’t like the normal version. No need to waste your money.
