Alright, let’s gab a bit about this Shohei fella, Shohei Oh-tani, yeah? Folks keep hollerin’ about him, sayin’ he’s the bee’s knees in baseball. Now, I ain’t no expert, mind you. I just watch the games sometimes when the cows are done milkin’ and the chickens are fed.
This Ohtani kid, they say he’s somethin’ special. Hits the ball a country mile and throws it faster than a runaway tractor. Reminds me a bit of that Babe Ruth fella my grandpappy used to talk about. Said he was a real pistol, that Babe. Could do it all, pitchin’ and hittin’. Sounds like this Ohtani is cut from the same cloth, I reckon.
- They’re sayin’ he’s gonna be even better than them old-timers. Hard to believe, but folks seem awful sure of it.
- He’s playin’ for that Los Angeles team now, the Dodgers, not the Angels no more. Big city team, fancy pants and all. Hope they treat him right.
Now, this winter, everyone was fussin’ and frettin’ ’bout where he’d go play next. Like a bunch of hens clucking over a lost chick. Heard tell there were trackers and experts and all sorts of folks tryin’ to figure it out. Heck, I coulda told ’em he’d go where the money was, same as anyone with a lick of sense. And that’s what he did, went to them Dodgers with their big pockets.
This past season, he had a year like no other. Folks were sayin’ he was makin’ history. Hitting home runs left and right and stealin’ bases like a greased pig. One game, they say he got six hits, three home runs, and drove in ten runs! Lordy, that’s enough to make your head spin. I tell you what, that’s more than most fellas do in a whole week!
Some folks are comparin’ him to Babe Ruth, sayin’ who was better. Well, I reckon that’s a fool’s errand. Different times, different players. Babe Ruth played a long time ago, when the balls were probably softer and the bats were made of hickory or somethin’. Ohtani’s playin’ now, with all this fancy equipment and training. It’s like comparin’ a mule to a racehorse, ain’t it?
Folks are makin’ predictions about what he’ll do next. Sayin’ he’ll break all sorts of records, win all sorts of awards. Maybe he will, maybe he won’t. Only time will tell, I always say. But one thing’s for sure, he’s a darn good ballplayer, this Ohtani. He’s excitin’ to watch, even for an old gal like me who don’t know a slider from a curveball.
He’s young yet, this Ohtani. Got a long way to go. But if he keeps playin’ like he has been, he’ll be a legend for sure. They’ll be talkin’ about him for years to come, just like they talk about Babe Ruth. And maybe, just maybe, he’ll be even better. Who knows? That’s the fun of it, ain’t it?
So that’s my two cents on this Shohei Ohtani. He’s a good one, that’s for sure. And I’ll be watchin’ him, when I can, between chores and gossipin’ with the neighbors. He’s somethin’ special, that boy. Reminds me of spring chicken, full of energy and promise.
