That boy, Sean Strickland, he sure can fight! I heard folks talking ’bout his record. What’s a “record”? Is it like them black discs for music? No, no, this is about how many times he’s won and lost in them fights. He’s a tough one, that Sean.
Sean Strickland, That’s the Name!
They say his name all over. Sean Strickland, Sean Strickland. Sounds like a stuck-up name, but he ain’t stuck up. He fights in that cage, you know? Like them roosters, but with gloves. He’s got muscles all over. My grandson, he watches them fights. Says Sean is the best. I don’t know ’bout that, but he sure is somethin’ to watch.
He wins a lot, that boy. They say he’s got a good record, like I said before. Lots of numbers. I don’t understand all them numbers, but I know more wins is better than losses. He hits hard, they say. Knocks them other fellas right out!
- He’s a fighter, that Sean.
- He’s got a good record. Lots of wins.
- He fights that Dricus fella, I heard.
They say some big shot, Dana White, he says Sean is gonna fight that Dricus du Plessis fella next. Sounds like a mouthful, that name. Dricus. Hope Sean knocks him good! That Dana White, he’s the boss of them fights, I reckon. Like the rooster man at the county fair, but with more money. Lots more money!
All Them Fights
They got all these numbers written down, you know? Like when you keep track of how many eggs your hens lay. But instead of eggs, it’s fights. Wins and losses. They call it “MMA stats”. Sounds fancy, but it’s just numbers. This many wins, that many losses. And some other stuff I don’t rightly understand.
He’s been fighting a long time, that Sean. Lots of fights under his belt, like notches on a stick. He must be tough as old boots to keep going like that. Getting punched in the face all the time, I don’t know how he does it. My old man used to wrestle hogs, but this is somethin’ else entirely.
- Sean, he’s tough.
- Lots of fights, lots of wins.
- He’s a good fighter, people say.
I seen him on the television once, Sean. He was yellin’ and screamin’ after he won. Full of beans, that one. Reminds me of my youngest, always gettin’ into trouble. But Sean, he gets paid for his trouble. Good money, too, I hear. More than you’d make sellin’ corn at the market, that’s for sure.
That Dricus Fella
Now, this Dricus du Plessis, he’s supposed to be tough, too. They say he’s a real bruiser. But I reckon Sean can take him. Sean’s got that fire in his belly. He don’t back down from nobody. I’ve heard people say he’s the best, that Sean Strickland record is something special. Like a prize-winning hog at the state fair, only meaner.
They’re gonna be fightin’ soon, I hear. Everyone’s talkin’ ’bout it. Like when the circus comes to town, but with more punchin’. My grandson, he can’t wait. He’s got a picture of Sean on his wall. Thinks he’s some kind of hero. Maybe he is, in that fighting world.
- Dricus is tough, too, they say.
- But Sean can take him, I think.
- Everyone is talking ’bout this fight.
They say Sean Strickland’s record is better than Dricus’. I hope so. I like that Sean. He seems like a good boy, even if he does get paid to punch people. It’s a strange world, ain’t it? But as long as he keeps winnin’, I guess that’s all that matters.
The Big Fight
I heard tell this fight with Dricus is a big one. Like the county fair pie-eatin’ contest, but with fists instead of pies. Lots of people gonna be watchin’. Hope Sean doesn’t get hurt too bad. But he’s a tough one, like I said. He can take a punch.
If he wins, they say he’ll be a champion. Like winnin’ a blue ribbon for your best quilt. Only this is a fightin’ champion. He’ll get a big shiny belt, I reckon. And more money. Lots more money.
- This fight with Dricus is a big deal.
- Sean could be champion if he wins.
- That would be something, wouldn’t it?
I don’t know much about all this fightin’ business, to be honest. But I know that Sean Strickland record is somethin’ folks are talkin’ about. He’s made a name for himself, that’s for sure. Like old man Johnson’s prize-winning bull, only Sean’s the one doin’ the fightin’. And from what I hear, he’s pretty darn good at it. He should keep on winning, that’s what I think. And maybe buy his old grandma a new rocking chair with all that money he’s makin’.
That Sean Strickland record, I hope it keeps getting better. Keep those wins coming. If you listen to folks, it will. That’s what they are saying. He is strong.
