Okay, so I’ve been trying to snag some NFL tickets lately, and let me tell you, it’s a whole thing. I wanted to share my experience, so hopefully, it can help some of you guys out.

Figuring Out the Release Dates
First off, I had to figure out when these tickets even go on sale. It’s not like there’s one giant “NFL Ticket Day.” It’s more spread out.
I started by hitting up the official NFL site, and that helped a bit. They usually announce the schedule release in the spring, like around May. That’s key because once the schedule is out, teams start releasing their individual game tickets.
Team-by-Team Hunt
So, after the schedule release, I had to go to each team’s website that I was interested in. That’s where the real digging began.
- Some teams are super organized and have a clear “Tickets on Sale” date.
- Others, well, you kinda have to keep checking back, or sign up for their email alerts. (I signed up for a bunch, my inbox is a mess now, LOL).
Pre-Sales and Season Ticket Holders
Here’s a big one: Season ticket holders get first dibs. Of course! That makes sense. They often have a pre-sale window before tickets are available to the general public. I’m not a season ticket holder (yet!), so I had to wait.
Some teams also do pre-sales for other groups, like fan club members or people on specific waitlists. So, I looked into those, but no luck for me this time.

The General On-Sale Scramble
Finally, the general on-sale dates arrived. For some teams, it was smooth sailing. I got online right when they went live and managed to get the tickets I wanted.
But for other games, oh man, it was a frenzy! I was stuck in virtual waiting rooms, refreshing the page like a maniac. I even had some tickets in my cart a couple of times, only to have them disappear before I could check out. So frustrating!
Secondary Market Adventures
After the initial onsales, I had some gaps I want to find. I do not want to miss out on some of the games, so I checked out the secondary market, like the “official” ticket resale sites.
- Prices can be a LOT higher on these sites, it all depends on demand.
- But I found that the prices are kind of dynamic. They can fluctuate.
It is what it is. It’s the price of seeing the match.
My Overall Takeaway
Getting NFL tickets can be a bit of a rollercoaster. Be prepared, do your research, sign up for alerts, and be ready to act fast when those tickets go live. And if you miss out, don’t give up hope, the secondary market might still have what you’re looking for. Good luck, fellow fans!
