Okay, so today I want to talk about this golfer, Sarah Scheffler. I’ve been trying to up my golf game lately, and let me tell you, it’s not as easy as it looks on TV. I started by watching a bunch of videos online and stumbled upon some of Sarah’s stuff.
First thing I did was just watch her swing. It’s so smooth! I tried to copy it, but man, my body just doesn’t move like hers. I felt like a rusty robot trying to do ballet.
Getting the Basics Down
I figured I needed to break it down. I started with the grip, you know, how you hold the club. Spent a good few days just practicing that, swinging in my backyard. My neighbors probably thought I was nuts, but hey, gotta start somewhere, right?
Then I moved on to the stance. This is where Sarah’s videos really helped. She talks a lot about balance, which is super important. I tried to imagine a bucket, like the one the internet mentioned, how it naturally wants to roll forward, and use that to bank my trail foot. I practiced shifting my weight, trying to feel that flow from back foot to front foot. It’s way harder than it sounds! You need a lot of balance for real.
Hitting the Range
After a while, I felt like I was ready to hit some balls. I went to the driving range, armed with my newfound knowledge. It was a disaster at first. I was slicing, hooking, topping the ball – you name it. But I kept at it, focusing on what I’d learned from Sarah’s techniques and some comments I saw online.
- Strokes gained: I kept hearing about this, and even though I don’t fully understand it yet, I tried to focus on hitting the ball cleanly and consistently.
- Balance: Just like Sarah, I tried to keep my weight balanced throughout the swing.
- Practice everything: Someone said not to just focus on driving, so I tried to work on my irons and putting too.
Small Victories
Slowly but surely, I started to see some improvement. My shots were going further and straighter. I even managed to hit a few that felt really good, you know, that solid thwack sound. It’s so satisfying!
I’m still not great, not even close. But I’m having fun, and I’m learning a lot. Golf is a tough game, but it’s also really rewarding when you start to see progress. And hey, thanks to Sarah Scheffler, and some random internet advice, I feel like I’m on the right track. Just gotta keep swinging, keep practicing and try not to put on too much weight, gotta stay flexible.
I’ve also started going to the gym more. I heard professional golfers work out a lot, so I figured I should too. It’s not just about hitting the ball, it’s about your whole body. This is what I realized when I put on my shoes recently to go for a game, I can barely reach my shoes! So yea, gotta work on losing some weight.
Anyway, that’s my golf journey so far. Hope you enjoyed it. Maybe I’ll post an update in a few months, let you know how it’s going. Wish me luck!
