Okay, so I’ve been trying to get a better handle on the Sam Houston State football team’s lineup, and let me tell you, finding a solid depth chart is harder than it looks. It’s not like the NFL where this stuff is plastered everywhere.
First, I scoured the official Sam Houston State Athletics website. I figured, “Hey, it’s their team, they must have it, right?” I clicked around the football section, looked through news articles, roster pages… nothing that really showed me a clear-cut depth chart.
Next, I hit up Google. You know, the usual “sam houston state football depth chart” search. I got a bunch of results, but most were just general college football sites, or news articles about specific games, or even older charts from previous seasons. Not exactly what I was after.
Then, I dug into some fan forums. I thought, “Okay, these are the die-hard fans, they’ll know.” I found some discussions, some speculation, but again, no definitive, up-to-date depth chart. It was more like piecing together bits of information from different posts.
I even checked out some of the bigger sports websites. You know the ones. They have info on everything, right? But even there, it was mostly just the roster, maybe some player stats. No pretty, organized depth chart.
My Strategy (Still in Progress!)
- Following Beat Writers: I’m trying to find the local reporters who cover the team regularly. They often tweet out updates or insights that you won’t find in official releases.
- Watching Game Broadcasts: Sometimes, the announcers will mention who’s starting or playing in certain packages. It’s not ideal, but it’s something.
- Compiling My Own: Basically, I’m taking all the little bits of information I can find – from news articles, game observations, forum posts – and trying to create my own rough depth chart. It’s a work in progress, for sure!
It seems that people have the same experince of hardly finding depth chart of the team. But I have been working on finding it and will share it when I am done.
