Okay, so I saw this thing online about Roman Reigns and some custom Air Jordans, and I thought, “I gotta try that!” I’m not the biggest wrestling fan, but I like Roman, and I love sneakers. So, here’s how the whole thing went down.
Getting Started
First, I needed some inspiration. I went straight to look for any pictures of Roman wearing Jordans. I couldn’t find a ton, So it was seeming I will need some good Design.
The Design Process
This is where I hit a bit of a wall. I am not great design * I try to think what Roman Reigns’s character is all about ?
- Think about colors: Red and black seem like good starting points. Maybe some gold accents, too?
- Think about logos:. Could be cool to incorporate that somehow.
- What kind of Jordans?: I figured I’d go with some Jordan 1s. Classic, easy to work with.
Finding the Right Shoes
I Found some all-white Jordan 1s. They were used, but in decent shape, and way cheaper than buying brand new ones. Score!
The Customization
- Prepping the shoes: I cleaned them up, removing any dirt.
- Started Painting I used some masking tape to protect the parts I didn’t want to paint, and started with a base coat of red on the back half of the shoes.
- Added Some Details: I was thinking about Roman reigns features and add some details.
- More Painting: I filled in the rest of the shoe with black, being careful around the red parts. I did a couple of coats to make sure it looked good.
- Finishing Touches: I added a few gold details, and then I had to remove the tape.
The Final Result
Man, I was so pumped with how these turned out! They weren’t perfect, of course. I’m no professional artist. But they looked pretty dang cool, and they definitely felt like something Roman Reigns would wear. I even wore them to watch a wrestling show with some friends, and everyone loved them.
It was a fun project, took a bit of time and effort, but totally worth it. Might even try customizing another pair of shoes soon. Maybe something with The Rock next time? We’ll see!
