Okay, so I was digging into the RBC Heritage tournament, trying to figure out if there were any patterns in past winners. You know, like, is there a certain type of player who wins there more often?

First, I started by simply listing out all the past winners I could find. I just googled “RBC Heritage past winners” and a bunch of sites popped up with the info. Easy peasy.
Compiling the Data
Next, I copied those names into a simple spreadsheet. I use Google Sheets, but Excel or whatever works fine. Just a basic list, year in one column, winner’s name in the next.
- Year
- Winner
Then, things started to take more time. I decided to add more information about each winner. Their age, their world ranking at the time of the win, maybe some other stats. This took a while because I had to look up each player individually. Scrolled through multiple web pages, and used different sources to gather as much data as I could.
Adding Player Details
It was a bit tedious, honestly. Lots of going back and forth between different websites. Sometimes the info was easy to find, sometimes I had to dig a little deeper. My fingers are still a little cramped.
Looking for Patterns
Once I had all this info in my spreadsheet, I started to play around with it. I used features to sort the data by age, then by world ranking, to see if any clear patterns emerged. It’s all about data organization, I guess. I sorted, and resorted, and stared at the screen for a long, long time!

I am not going to lie, it wasn’t some super scientific analysis. I am not a statistician or a data analysis. It was more like looking for general trends. I did find some interesting stuff, but nothing groundbreaking. I realized it’s more about getting a feel for the history of the tournament than finding some magic formula.
Overall, it was a fun little project, even if it was a bit time-consuming.I will keep updating and sorting my sheet,Maybe I will find more!
