Alright, let’s talk about this “protagonist crossword” thing I messed around with today. I got this idea stuck in my head that I wanted to make my own crossword puzzle. You know, the kind you see in newspapers, all those black and white squares with clues and stuff.
First, I went online and tried to find a crossword generator, but the ones I found were kind of annoying. So, I thought, “Screw it, I’ll just do it myself.” Big mistake, maybe? Anyway, I started by thinking up a theme. I chose “famous protagonists” because, why not? It seemed like a fun idea at the time.
Then, I had to come up with a list of protagonists and their corresponding clues. This was a bit tough. I mean, I know a lot of famous characters, but fitting them into a crossword grid? That’s a whole different story. I scribbled down a bunch of names on a piece of paper – Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes, Katniss Everdeen, you name it.
Next, I started drawing a grid. I just grabbed a ruler and a pencil and started making squares on a piece of paper. It wasn’t pretty, but it was a start. I tried fitting the names into the grid, you know, interlocking them like a real crossword. This was a pain in the butt, seriously. I had to erase and redraw so many times, my paper started looking like a war zone.
After a lot of trial and error, I finally got a grid that worked. I was so proud of myself, even though it was a bit wonky. Then, I had to write the clues. For instance, for Harry Potter, I wrote something like, “The boy who lived.” For Sherlock, I did something like “A consulting detective in London.” You get the idea.
Finally, I had a complete crossword. It was homemade, it was messy, but it was mine. I made a copy of it, with the answers filled in on the grid, and I kept it. It’s a nice souvenir of my little adventure today.
Here’s what I learned today:
- Making a crossword is way harder than it looks. Seriously, those crossword creators are geniuses.
- I need to get better at drawing straight lines. My grid was a bit… abstract.
- I should stick to solving crosswords, not making them. But it was a fun experiment, I guess.
So, yeah, that was my day. I made a “protagonist crossword” from scratch, and it was a wild ride. Would I do it again? Probably not. But hey, at least I have a cool story to tell, right?
