Okay, so I’ve been wanting to start a podcast for a while now, and I finally decided to take the plunge. I’m based in Austin, so naturally, I started looking into podcast studios around here. Let me tell you, it’s a whole process.
First, I googled “podcast studio Austin” and a bunch of options popped up. I started clicking through, comparing what each place offered. Some were super basic, just a room with a couple of mics. Others were way more high-tech, with all the bells and whistles you could imagine. I’m somewhere in the middle, I think.
Comparing Podcast Studios
- Checked out a place called “Melrose Podcasts.” Their website looked pretty slick. They talked a big game about “state-of-the-art facilities.” I put them on my maybe list.
- Found another one called “Record ATX.” They’ve been around since 2018, which is a good sign, I guess. They seemed to cater to both audio and video, which is cool because I might want to do video podcasts down the line.
I spent a good chunk of the day just browsing websites, reading reviews, and trying to figure out what I actually needed. It’s overwhelming, honestly! I mean, I’m not a professional or anything, but I do want it to sound decent. And, of course, there’s the money aspect. Some of these places are not cheap.
I narrowed it down to a few studios that seemed like good fits. Then came the fun part – reaching out and asking about pricing and availability. I emailed a couple of places and even called one. It’s kind of nerve-wracking, putting yourself out there like that.
After a few back-and-forths, I finally booked a session at a studio that seemed like a good balance of quality and price. It’s happening next week, and I’m both excited and terrified. I’ve been working on my first episode’s outline, and I’ve even practiced a few times, just talking to myself. I’m going to try a test recording at the studio and see how it goes. I really hope I don’t get too nervous and mess up. It is the first time, so I need to relax, I think.
So yeah, that’s where I’m at with this whole podcasting thing. It’s a lot more involved than I initially thought, but I’m learning a ton along the way. Hopefully, by next time, I will have a real episode, ready to go. Wish me luck!
