Okay, so today I decided to tackle this “unadulterated crossword” thing. I’d seen it floating around online and figured, why not? I grabbed a pen and printed out the puzzle – gotta have the real paper feel, you know?

First, I just stared at it. Seriously, for like a good five minutes. It was just a big grid of blank squares, totally intimidating. I almost gave up right there, but then I thought, “Nah, I can do this.”
I started by scanning for any really short words, like three or four letters. Those are usually the easiest to guess. I found a couple, filled them in with a pencil (very lightly, gotta be able to erase!), and hoped they were right.
- Found a three-letter word that I thought might be “and”.
- There was a four-letter one that looked like it could be “that”.
Then, I used those filled-in letters to help me with the connecting words. It was like a chain reaction – one word led to another, and another. Some of them were pretty obvious, like common phrases or things you’d see every day.
But man, some of them were tough! I had to really think, try out different letter combinations, and even scribble some possibilities on the side of the page. There were a few times I was totally stumped, just staring at a bunch of empty squares, feeling like I was never gonna get it.
I got stuck a few times. There was this one word… I just couldn’t figure it out. I skipped it and came back to it later, after I’d filled in more of the puzzle. Sometimes that helps, you know? Seeing the bigger picture.

Slowly but surely, I started to fill in more and more of the grid. It was actually pretty satisfying, seeing those blank squares get filled with letters. Like I was uncovering some secret message or something.
Finally, after what felt like forever (probably like an hour or so), I finished it! I double-checked all the words, made sure they made sense, and boom – done. It was a pretty cool feeling, like I’d conquered some kind of word beast.
My Takeaway
It’s definitely a good brain workout. It’s not something you can rush through, you gotta be patient and really use your noodle. I will keep up to practice next time!
