My Trip Out to Whitlock Soccer Fields
So, I finally got around to checking out the Whitlock Soccer Fields last Tuesday. Heard a few folks talking about it, figured I’d see what it was all about. Wasn’t really planning much, just wanted to get out of the house for a bit, you know?

Getting there was pretty straightforward. Put the name into my phone map, and it took me right there. Parking wasn’t too bad when I arrived, found a spot without circling around like a hawk. That’s always a good start in my book.
Stepped out and the first thing I noticed was just how open it felt. Lots of green space, which was nice. It wasn’t super crowded, mostly some younger kids running drills on one field and a couple of guys just kicking a ball back and forth on another. Looked like your typical community sports fields, nothing too flashy.
I just started walking around the perimeter. Wanted to get a feel for the place. The grass seemed reasonably kept, though some patches looked a bit worn, probably from heavy use. Understandable. Saw the goals, some looked newer than others. It’s got that lived-in feel, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Here’s just some stuff I noticed while wandering about:
- There are quite a few fields packed in there. Enough space for several games at once.
- Saw some parents watching from the sidelines, typical sports parent stuff.
- It was pretty clean, didn’t see much trash lying around, which is always a plus.
- Could probably use a few more trash cans and maybe some shaded spots or benches, especially for hotter days.
Spent maybe an hour just walking, watching the activity. It wasn’t exactly thrilling, but it was peaceful. Just watching people enjoy the outdoors, playing a game. Simple stuff.

Overall, it was an okay visit. It’s a functional set of soccer fields for the community. Does its job. If you need a place for a kickabout or your kids are in a league that plays there, it serves its purpose. Nothing spectacular, but solid. Definitely a community spot. Probably wouldn’t make a special trip just to hang out, but if I was in the area, maybe I’d swing by again to stretch my legs.
