Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this whole golf swing speed thing lately, and I gotta say, it’s a bit of a rabbit hole. I got curious about how fast those pros on the PGA Tour are really swinging, and let me tell you, it’s pretty wild.
So, first thing I did was hit up the internet, you know, the usual Google search. I just typed in something like “PGA Tour average club head speed”. And boom, tons of stuff popped up. Turns out, those guys are swinging their drivers at something like 116 miles per hour on average. Can you believe that? I mean, I thought I was doing alright, but that’s just insane.
I started digging deeper, trying to see how I stacked up. Found out that the average swing speed on the tour is somewhere between 110 and 124 mph, which is even crazier. Then I stumbled upon some data about regular golfers like me. Apparently, a little over 40 percent of us swing between 91 and 100 mph. And get this, the overall average is around 93.4 mph. So, if you’re around there, you’re not doing too bad.
But here’s the thing that got me thinking: even those pro guys, they could probably swing even faster. It’s like, there’s always room for improvement, right? And for us average Joes, hitting over 100 mph puts you in the top 22% of amateur male golfers. That’s pretty cool if you ask me. Anything over 94 mph is considered pretty darn good.
I even found this thing called deWiz that’s supposed to measure your swing speed with some fancy algorithms. Sounds pretty high-tech, huh? I figured I’d give it a shot. So I got myself one of those gadgets and started practicing.
- First, I tried it out at home, just swinging in my backyard.
- Then, I took it to the driving range to see how it worked there.
- And finally, I even used it during a round of golf on the course.
It was pretty interesting to see the numbers and how they changed depending on where I was and what I was doing. I’m still trying to figure out all the ins and outs of it, but it’s definitely given me some food for thought. I mean, who wouldn’t want to swing like those PGA Tour guys, right?
Anyway, that’s my little adventure into the world of golf swing speed. It’s been a fun ride so far, and I’m definitely gonna keep at it. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll be hitting those 116 mph bombs too. A guy can dream, right?
