Alright, let’s gab a bit about these PGA major winners, you know, the fellas who swing them sticks real good and win the big shiny cups. I ain’t no expert, mind you, just a regular gal who watches a bit of golf on the TV when I ain’t busy with the chickens and whatnot.
So, these “majors,” they’re like the super bowls of golf, I reckon. The biggest deals, the ones everyone wants to win. They got a bunch of ’em, like the Masters, the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open, and that British Open across the pond. Big fancy names, ain’t they?
Now, some fellas, they win these majors by a whole heap of strokes. Like, nine or more! Can you imagine? Beatin’ everyone else by that much. It’s like lappin’ ’em in a car race, I guess. Happened a few times, they say. Must be somethin’ to see.
- Masters: That’s the one they play in Georgia, where them pretty flowers are. Green jackets and all that.
- PGA Championship: Been around since, what, 1916? A long, long time. Lots of winners over the years.
- U.S. Open: Tough one, that is. Hard courses, they say. Gotta be real good to win that one.
- British Open: They call it “The Open” over there, I think. Windy and rainy sometimes, makes it tricky.
Speaking of winners, there’s this fella, Jack Nicklaus. Heard he’s the best ever, won the most majors. Eighteen of ’em! That’s a whole lotta shiny cups, I tell ya. Then there’s Tiger Woods, he’s pretty good too. Won fifteen, last one a few years back, I think. He’s had some troubles, poor fella, but still a great golfer, no doubt about it.
And old Walter Hagen, he won a bunch too, eleven they say. He and Nicklaus, they both won the PGA Championship five times. That’s a lot of wins at one tournament, ain’t it? Musta been real good at that one.
Then there’s this thing they call the “Career Grand Slam.” That’s when a fella wins all four of them majors. Only five guys ever done it, they say. Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus again, see? He was good at everything! And uh… who was that other one? Oh yeah, Tiger Woods, he did it too.
Now, these old-timers, the fellas who ain’t youngsters no more, they got their own tour too. The PGA Tour Champions, they call it. They play their own majors. Still good golfers, just a little…seasoned, you know? Like me, I guess, ha! This fella Bernhard Langer, he’s the king of that tour. Won a whole bunch of tournaments. Forty-seven they say! And he’s been winnin’ somethin’ every year for eighteen years straight. That’s consistency, I tell ya.
They play their majors all over. Alabama, England… travelin’ around like them young fellas, just a bit slower maybe. Good for them, keepin’ active and all. Gives us somethin’ to watch on TV, right?
So, that’s the gist of it, I reckon. Lots of majors, lots of winners, some old, some young, some winnin’ by a mile, some just squeakin’ by. It’s all good fun, long as they don’t hit nobody with them balls, ha!
And this year, 2025, they got another bunch of Champions Tour majors comin’ up. Regions Tradition in May, Senior Open in July… I’ll try to catch a bit of it, if the chickens let me. They can be demanding, you know? Always cluckin’ for somethin’. Just like them golfers, always wantin’ another win, another shiny cup.
Anyway, that’s all I got to say about these PGA major winners. Just a bunch of fellas hittin’ little balls real far and tryin’ to win. Nothin’ more complicated than that, really.
