Okay, so, the Padres. What a whirlwind it’s been the past couple of years. I mean, remember when Bob Melvin was the guy? I spent hours poring over articles and press conferences when the news broke that he was going to be the manager. I even started a whole spreadsheet to track potential lineup combinations and game strategies. That was, let’s just say, a bit intense, even for me.
I followed every press conference, I watched every interview. I even dug into his past teams and tried to figure out what his go-to moves were. I was so hyped about this team.
And then, bam! Out of nowhere, things started changing. It felt like I woke up one morning, and suddenly, Mike Shildt was the new name on everyone’s lips. I remember scrambling to find out everything I could about this guy. Who was he? Where did he come from? Turns out, he had some history with the University of North Carolina at Asheville. I even found some old articles about his high school days. Wild, right?
- Scouring the internet for info on Shildt. I spent days, literally, just searching for any tidbit of information I could find about him.
- Revamping my spreadsheet. Yeah, I had to pretty much start from scratch. New manager, new strategies, new everything. It was a lot of work, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right?
- Watching the team like a hawk. Every game, every decision. I was glued to the TV, trying to see how Shildt was going to handle this team.
And then, you know, just a few months ago they announced he got a two-year extension. I saw it on the news and I was like, “wow, okay, they are really committed to this guy.” I am telling you, following this team is a full-time job in itself.
But hey, that’s baseball, right? Always keeping you on your toes. Now, I’m just sitting here, eagerly waiting to see what this team does next. Who knows, maybe they’ll finally reach those World Series dreams that A.J. Preller keeps talking about. I’ll be here, watching every step of the way, and updating my trusty spreadsheet, of course.
