Okay, so today I decided to tackle Octordle. For those who don’t know, it’s like Wordle, but way more intense. You’re basically trying to guess eight five-letter words simultaneously, and you only get 13 guesses to do it. Sounds crazy, right? It is!

Getting Started
I started by just throwing in some common words, you know, the usual suspects like “ARISE” and “TEARS”. I figured getting some vowels and common consonants on the board early would be helpful. My first few guesses were really just to see what letters I could eliminate or confirm in multiple words at once.
It’s kind of a mess at first. You see all these yellow and green squares scattered across eight different grids, and your brain just goes into overdrive trying to keep track of everything.
Developing a Strategy (Sort Of)
After a few initial guesses, I started to focus on words that shared some letters with the ones that were showing promise. Like, if I had a yellow ‘A’ in one word, I’d try to use that ‘A’ in another guess for a different word, hoping to hit green or at least narrow down its position.
- First few guesses: Mostly random, common words, lots of vowels.
- Middle game: Focusing on words that share letters with potential solutions. Trying to maximize the information gained from each guess.
- End game: Panicking slightly, making educated guesses based on the few remaining letters and possible word combinations.
It’s so important to avoid repeating the same word in different place. I did it before, What a silly mistake!
The Scramble to the Finish
Honestly, the last few guesses are always a bit of a scramble. You’re down to the wire, and there are still so many possibilities. I was definitely sweating a bit, staring at the screen, and muttering to myself, trying out different letter combinations in my head.

I managed to solve it today, but it definitely took me all 13 guesses. Phew! Some days are easier than others, but that’s part of the fun (and frustration) of Octordle. It’s a real brain workout, and it definitely keeps you on your toes.
I have to say, for me at least, I found that my Octordle results are much better in the morning.
