Sixteen captains, that’s a lot of fellas wearin’ that hat. Each one of ’em, I bet, had their own way of doin’ things. Some probably hollered a lot, some probably just led by example. But they all had that same job – to keep them Yankees in line and winnin’ games. They all tried their best to be good captains.
This Judge fella, he’s got big shoes to fill, followin’ after all them other captains. But I hear he’s up to the task. He’s a big, strong fella, and they say he’s got a good head on his shoulders. It’s important to be strong and smart.

I don’t know much about them other fellas, but I bet they’re good at what they do, too. You gotta be good to be a captain. It’s a hard work to be a captain, I think. They need to lead the team to win.
This whole captain thing, it’s like bein’ the leader of the pack. You gotta be tough, you gotta be smart, and you gotta know how to handle people. And you gotta know how to play that baseball, too, I reckon. It is very important to be a good leader.
So, these New York Yankees captains, they’re a special breed. They’re the ones who lead the team, the ones who keep everyone in line. And this new one, this Aaron Judge, he’s got a lot to live up to. But from what I hear, he’s gonna do just fine. He is a good man and he will be a good captain.
