Okay, so I’ve been trying to get better at predicting football results, specifically for Newcastle United games. It’s tough, but I figured I’d document my process, mostly to keep myself honest and maybe learn something along the way.

First, I started by just looking at the upcoming fixture. Who are they playing? Where’s the game? That’s the basic stuff, right?
Then, I dug into the recent form of both teams. I checked out the last five or six games for each side. Wins, losses, draws… goals scored, goals conceded. It gives you a rough idea of how they’re playing at the moment.
Dive Deep Into Data
- I also looked at any news I can. Are their key players injured? Or suspend?
- I also try find some other website that have predictions data.
After gathering all this, I tried to put it all together. I weigh up the factors: home advantage is usually big, but a team in great form might overcome that. If Newcastle’s star striker is out injured, that obviously makes a win less likely.
Honestly, it’s more of an educated guess than anything scientific. I scribbled down my thoughts, considered the odds, and finally made my prediction. Sometimes I’m right, sometimes I’m way off. It is very interesting!
It’s a work in progress, for sure. But by documenting everything, I can look back and see where I went wrong (or right!), and hopefully improve my predictions over time. Maybe one day I’ll actually be good at this!
