Okay, so today I was trying to solve the NYT crossword, and I got totally stuck on one clue: “word with circle or seal.” It was only four letters, so I was like, how hard could this be? Turns out, pretty hard!

Brainstorming Time
First, I tried to think of words that go with “circle.” Like, “full circle?” Nope, too long. “Circle of friends?” Definitely not. I was getting nowhere fast.
Then I switched gears and focused on “seal.” I thought about the animal, the act of sealing something, like a letter. Still nothing that was four letters long and fit the context.
The “Aha!” Moment
I almost gave up! I decided to run through the alphabet, basically plugging in letters to see if anything clicked. And then, it hit me. What about “LOGO”?
- A logo can be circular in a shape.
- A seal can share a similar shape with a logo.
I filled it in, and boom! It worked! I felt like such a genius, even though it probably took me way longer than it should have.
The most important things is I finally find out the anwser.
