Alright, so the other day, I’m sitting around, and I think, “Hey, why not try one of those New York Times crosswords?” I’ve heard they can be pretty tough, but I figure, how hard can it be? I grab my phone and pull up the puzzle for the day, August 17, 2021. And let me tell you, it was a bit of a doozy.
I start filling in the ones I know right away. You know, the easy ones, like three-letter words or ones that are just obvious. But then I get stuck. Like, really stuck. There’s this one clue that’s just not clicking: “Walk like a duck.” I’m staring at it, thinking, “What in the world could this be?”
Struggling
I try a few things, but nothing seems to fit. I even ask my wife, but she’s just as clueless as I am. We are going back and forth, throwing out random words, but nothing is working. It’s like my brain has just decided to take a vacation or something.
Then, I think to myself, “There has to be a better way to do this.” So I grab my laptop and start searching online. I figure someone, somewhere, must have figured this out already. And guess what? They have! After scrolling through a few pages, I finally found a hint. It said, “If you are done solving this clue take a look below to the other clues found on today’s puzzle in case you may need help with any of them.”
Searching
- I was typing in “Walk like a duck NYT crossword clue” into the search bar.
- Then I was looking at some different pages, trying to find the answer.
- I was scrolling and scrolling, and then…
Realizing
Boom! There it is. The answer is “WADDLE.” Six letters. It fits perfectly. I couldn’t believe it! I felt like I’d just cracked some secret code or something. It was such a rush, you know? I quickly type it into the puzzle on my phone, and it works!
I ended up finishing the whole puzzle, but that one clue, “Walk like a duck,” that was the highlight. It taught me that even when things seem tough, there’s always a way to figure it out. Sometimes you just need to look in a different place or ask for a little help. And let me tell you, it felt pretty darn good to finally solve it.
So yeah, that’s my little adventure with the NYT crossword. It was a fun little challenge, and I’m kind of hooked now. Who knows, maybe I’ll make it a daily thing. But for now, I’m just proud of myself for not giving up and finally figuring out that darn duck walk.
