Okay, so I decided to take a shot at predicting the Marshall versus Old Dominion game. It’s something I do sometimes, just for fun, see if I can get it right.

Getting Started
First thing I did was just check out their recent performance. You know, pull up the scores from the last few games for both teams. Didn’t dig super deep into crazy stats or anything, just wanted a general feel for how they were playing lately. Who’s winning, who’s losing, are the games close, stuff like that.
Looking at the Teams
So, I looked at Marshall first. Checked out their record, saw who they played. Did the same for Old Dominion right after. Tried to see if they had any common opponents, sometimes that tells you a little something, but not always. Mostly just getting a gut feeling based on recent results.
I also spent a minute thinking about what I remembered from maybe watching parts of their games earlier in the season, if I had. Sometimes a team just looks tougher or more organized, even if their record isn’t perfect. It’s not scientific, just an impression I might have logged away.
Mulling it Over
After glancing at the records and thinking about any past impressions, I started comparing them directly. Marshall seemed to have a bit more consistency lately, at least from the scores I saw. Old Dominion looked like they had some ups and downs. Didn’t look into injuries much, honestly, sometimes that’s too much detail unless it’s a star player everyone’s talking about.
It really just came down to a simple comparison:

- Team A’s recent W-L trend
- Team B’s recent W-L trend
- Any strong feelings about how they looked if I’d seen them play?
- Home field advantage? Sometimes I consider that too.
I weighed those few things in my head. Wasn’t like I spent hours on it. More like a quick mental checklist while having my coffee.
Making the Call
Based on that quick look, I leaned towards Marshall. They just seemed a bit more steady leading up to the game, from what I could gather quickly. So, yeah, I mentally chalked one up for Marshall. Put my imaginary five bucks on them, you know?
Seeing What Happened
Didn’t actually follow the game live super closely, but I made sure to check the score later that day or the next morning. It’s always interesting to see if your quick prediction panned out or if you were way off base. Sometimes you nail it, sometimes the teams surprise you. That’s the fun of it, right? You just make your best guess based on what you saw and see how it plays out.
