What’s a Fairway Wood Anyway?
Now, this here fairway wood, it’s like a smaller version of that big driver thing. You know, the one you use to smack the ball real far at the start? This one, it’s for when the ball is on the grass, the fairway, I think he called it. It ain’t as big as that driver, but it sure can send that little white ball flyin’.
This 21 degree fairway wood, my boy says it’s a 7 wood. Don’t ask me why they got so many numbers, just know 7 is the one I got. He says some folks use a 4 hybrid thingy instead, but I like my 7 wood. It’s just easier, you know? Less thinking, more hitting.

Why I Like My 21 Degree Fairway Wood
Back in my day, we didn’t have all these fancy clubs. But this one, I gotta say, it’s pretty good. I can hit the ball straight, most of the time. And it goes up in the air real nice. My boy says it’s the loft, this 21 degree thing. I just know it works.
I used to have trouble with them long irons. They’re skinny and hard to hit. But this fairway wood, it’s got a bigger head, easier to see where you’re gonna hit the ball. Makes me feel more confident, you know? Like I actually know what I’m doing out there on that green.
This one time, I was playing with my boy, and I had to hit the ball over this little pond. I was scared, I ain’t gonna lie. But I took out my trusty 7 wood, this 21 degree fairway wood, and I gave it a good whack. And you know what? That ball sailed right over that water, landed on the green, nice and pretty. My boy was so proud. He even said it’s a “cheat code”.
I don’t always use this club, though. Sometimes, I use the driver. And sometimes, I use a shorter one, for when the ball is closer to the hole. You see, you gotta use different clubs for different shots. That’s what my boy tells me. Golf, its a game with lots of rules.
The 7 Wood is Easy to Hit
This 7 wood is the one I use most though. You can use it off the tee, like you are hitting the driver. But it don’t go quite as far. My boy says a 4 wood, 17 degree, will go further. But I like the 7 wood. It’s good for me.
He says a 5 wood is 18 or 19 degrees. I don’t know why they can’t just make them all the same. But they don’t. So, there you go.
Now, this other thing he talks about, hybrids. He says those are good, too. But I’m used to my 21 degree fairway wood. It just feels right in my hands, you know?
If you’re just starting out with this golf thing, or if you’re having trouble with them long irons, I say give this 7 wood a try. It might just be what you need to make the game a little easier. And who knows, maybe you’ll even impress your boy like I did.
This golf game, it’s something else. But I gotta say, I’m starting to enjoy it. And this 21 degree fairway wood, well, it’s a big part of that. It helps me enjoy golf, and its easy for old gals like me. I can use it every time. I think every old gal should get one. This 21 degree fairway wood is a good club. It’s just good. These new clubs, like the TaylorMade Qi10, they come out with new ones every year. But I’ll stick with my 7 wood, thank you very much.
My Boy is Happy
My boy likes his new clubs. He is looking at the new ones now. He says they change all the time. But I don’t see why. A good club is a good club. I’ll use my 21 degree fairway wood. It works for me. And that is all that matters.
