Today I wanna talk about a baseball player, JJ Wetherholt, and his family. This guy is a young talent, only 20 years old, and he’s already making waves as a second baseman for the West Virginia Mountaineers. I heard he’s ranked second in the nation for hits with 64, which is insane!
So, I got curious and started digging around about this JJ guy. Turns out, his parents are Mike and Holly Wetherholt. I found out he has an older brother, too, named Brandon, who’s four years older than JJ. I bet there was some serious sibling rivalry growing up in that household! With a younger brother who’s always trying to outdo you, it must’ve been intense.
- First thing I did: I searched for his parents, Mike and Holly.
- Then I found: He has an older brother, Brandon.
- Dug deeper and found: His uncle, Doug Wetherholt, is a principal at Lakeside High School. Family’s involved in education too, it seems.
Reading some interviews, I came across a quote from his dad, Mike. He said, “It always had to end with him scoring the game-winning touchdown, hit the winning three-point shot, get the game-winning hit.” Seems like JJ’s always been competitive, always striving to be the hero. His dad also mentioned how it “blows his mind” that JJ is even in the conversation among top players. You can really hear the pride in his voice.
But this is where it gets really interesting. The St. Louis Cardinals just announced they signed JJ as their first-round draft pick, 7th overall, in the 2024 Major League Baseball Draft. This is huge! He’s only the third 7th overall selection for the Cardinals since 1965. I mean, the kid’s going places. Started following him on some sports apps to get the inside scoop, you know, just to keep an eye on his career.
My Steps to Get Here
I started by looking up JJ Wetherholt’s basic info. Then I went down the rabbit hole of his family background. From there, I looked into his recent achievements and, boom, found out about the draft. It felt like uncovering a story as it unfolded, which was pretty cool.
It’s amazing to see such a young talent get recognized and have this incredible opportunity. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on JJ Wetherholt’s career. Who knows, maybe we’ll be talking about him as one of the greats in a few years!
