Alright, so today I wanted to mess around with some NBA stats, specifically from the Dallas Mavericks vs. LA Clippers game. I’m a huge basketball fan, and I figured it would be cool to pull up some player data and see what I could find.
First, I needed to figure out where to get the stats. There are a bunch of sites out there, but I went with a popular one that usually has up-to-date info. Once I got to the site, I had to find the right game. It wasn’t too hard, they had a schedule and everything laid out pretty clearly.
I clicked on the Mavericks vs. Clippers game, and boom, there was a whole page dedicated to it. They had the final score, the box score, play-by-play, and of course, the player stats. That’s what I was after.
The player stats were in a table, pretty standard stuff. You got your basic categories like points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, you know, the usual. I started looking at some of my favorite players.
- Luka Dončić, naturally, had a monster game. I scrolled down and saw he dropped a bunch of points and had a ton of assists. No surprise there.
- Then I checked out Kyrie Irving. He had a solid game too. His shooting percentage was pretty good.
- On the Clippers side, I looked up Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. They both had decent numbers.
I spent a good chunk of time just browsing through the stats, comparing players, seeing who played more minutes, who had more fouls, that kind of thing. It’s kinda nerdy, I know, but I find it interesting to see how the game played out statistically.
Findings
After going through all the numbers, a few things stood out to me. It was clear that Dallas’s star players really carried the team. Their bench players didn’t contribute as much as the Clippers’ bench. I also noticed that the Clippers had more turnovers, which probably hurt them in the end.
Overall, it was a fun little exercise. I got to geek out on some basketball stats, and it gave me a better understanding of how the game went down. Maybe next time I’ll try to find some more advanced stats, like player efficiency rating or something like that. But for today, this was enough to satisfy my hoops fix.
