Getting Started
First, I grabbed the official NCAA rulebook. I figured, straight from the source, right? It’s a beast, though. Lots of legal-sounding stuff, but I powered through.
The Basics
I started by focusing on the core pitching rules. Things like:
- The pitching rubber – gotta make sure you’re touching that thing.
- The set position and windup – figuring out the legal ways to deliver the ball.
- Balks – oh boy, balks. So many ways to mess up and give the other team a free base! I really drilled down on these.
Digging Deeper
Then I got into more nitty-gritty stuff.
I spend time on reading substitution rules. Also, warm-up pitches, like how many you get and when. I learned there’s a whole section on what happens if a pitcher gets injured mid-game.
I also explored rules about visits to the mound, and I had to understand all the requirements to avoid any violations.

Putting It All Together
