Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this crossword thing from the New York Times, the one they call “Playground Comeback.” It’s been a while since I really got into a crossword, but I used to love these things.
First, I dug around to see when this particular puzzle was published. Looks like it popped up recently, February 17, 2024. I started by just staring at the grid, you know, getting a feel for it. Then, I started filling in the blanks, nothing was coming to me, I have to find some clues online.
I found a couple of websites and discussion forums that had some tips and even the answers. Some said the answer was “ARESO” and some said it was “DIDSO”. They even broke down the clues, which was helpful. They said to check the tense and number in the clues. Even if you don’t know the exact word, you can make assumptions based on how the clue is written. If a clue is in the past, present, or active tense, or if it’s singular or plural, then you know what the last few letters of the answer might be.
- I tried to figure out a few based on the length and the letters I already had.
- I used the clear option in the top menu bar to reset the game, if I messed up too badly.
- I kept going back and forth, trying different combinations.
And then… I finally figured it out! The correct answer is “DIDSO”. There’s that sense of accomplishment when you nail it, you know? “DIDSO” is that classic playground comeback when kids are going back and forth with “Did not!” and “Did so!”
This whole thing reminded me of that saying, “What goes up must come down.” It’s kind of like solving a crossword – you hit walls, you get stuck, but eventually, you work it out. It was a fun little brain workout, and I’m thinking I might start doing these crosswords more often.
So that’s it, That’s how I cracked the “Playground Comeback” puzzle. It took some time, some digging, and a little bit of luck, but I got there in the end.
