This China Open thing, they say it’s a round of 128. Sounds like a lot of people playin’. And Trevisan, she’s ranked somethin’ like 90 or 112, depends on who you ask, I reckon. Townsend, she’s higher up, like 48 or 52. So, she’s better, I guess? That’s what them numbers mean, right? Higher the better, like when you’re reachin’ for them apples on the top branch.
They played before, these two. Not just once, seems like a few times. And every time, they say Townsend’s got the upper hand. Like she’s got some kinda secret weapon. Maybe she hits the ball harder, or runs faster, or maybe she just yells louder. Who knows? I ain’t seen ’em play.
Predictions, predictions… that’s what they’re all makin’. Sayin’ who’s gonna win, who’s gonna lose. They say Townsend’s gonna win. Most folks do, anyway. But you know, sometimes the underdog surprises ya. Like that time old Bessie’s hen laid a double-yolk egg. Nobody saw that comin’.
They even got folks talkin’ about head-to-head stats. Means how they done against each other before, I think. And it seems like Townsend’s always done better. So, maybe they’re right. Maybe she’ll win again. But I wouldn’t bet my last dollar on it, you know. Tennis is a funny game. Anything can happen.
Someone even mentioned somethin’ about a match between Trevisan and some other gal, Anna Bondar. They said Anna had a “slight edge”. Now what in tarnation does that mean? Like she’s standin’ on a little hill or somethin’? These city folks and their fancy words, I swear.
And another match, with a Louisa Chirico, they was predictin’ that too. Seems like everybody’s got an opinion on who’s gonna win. Me? I just hope they have a good game, nobody gets hurt, and maybe they can all go have a nice cup of tea afterwards. That’s what I’d do.
So, if you ask me, who’s gonna win? Well, they all say Taylor Townsend. And I guess I gotta agree with ‘em. Numbers don’t lie, they say. But I’ll be rootin’ for Trevisan, just ‘cause she sounds like a nice Italian girl, you know? Reminds me of my neighbor, Mrs. Esposito, she makes the best darn pasta sauce you ever tasted.
