Okay, so I’ve been trying to get better at predicting baseball game outcomes. It’s tough, but I figured, why not start with a Marlins-Dodgers prediction and document my whole process? So, here’s how it went down:

Looked at Recent Games
First, I checked out how both teams have been playing lately. I scrolled through their last few games, looking for wins, losses, and how many runs they were scoring and giving up. Were they on a hot streak? Cold streak? Anything obvious?
Checked Starting Pitchers
Then, I dug into who was pitching. This is HUGE. I looked up the probable starters for both the Marlins and the Dodgers. I checked out their ERAs, their recent game logs, and how they’ve performed against the opposing team in the past. Sometimes a pitcher just has another team’s number, you know?
Considered Home-Field Advantage
Next, I factored in where the game was being played. Home-field advantage is a real thing, so I checked if the Marlins or Dodgers were playing at home and whether that seemed to give them a boost based on their records.
Looked at Injuries
Injuries can totally wreck a team’s chances. So, I scoured for any news about key players being out for either team. A star hitter on the injured list? That’s gonna make a difference.
Checked the Weather
Believe it or not, weather matters. I looked at conditions. I’m no expert but looking at it is helpful.

Made My Prediction
After all that, I finally made my prediction. It wasn’t anything fancy, just a guess based on what I’d found. And of course, I knew it was just a guess! Baseball is unpredictable, that’s part of the fun.
- This whole process took a little while, but it was kind of fun to try and piece it all together.
- It’s definitely not a foolproof system, but I feel like I learned a bit about how to approach game predictions.
- I’ll keep trying and see if I can improve my accuracy!
Maybe next time I’ll try incorporating some more advanced stats, but for now, this was my basic approach to a Marlins-Dodgers prediction.
