Well, let me tell ya ’bout this LSU pitcher, you know, the one everyone’s been yappin’ about. Folks say he’s somethin’ special, like a rooster that crows all day and still lays golden eggs. This boy throws the ball hard, real hard, like a rock skipping across a pond, only faster and meaner.
I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I seen enough baseball games to know when a fella’s got the goods. And this LSU pitcher, he’s got ’em alright. They say he makes the batters swing and miss, like they’re swatting at flies in the dark. And when they do hit the ball, it ain’t goin’ far, just dribbles and pops up like a scared rabbit.
- He throws strikes, lots of ’em.
- He don’t get rattled, even when the bases are loaded and the crowd’s a-roarin’.
- He’s got that look in his eye, like he knows he’s gonna win.
Now, I heard tell that LSU, they had a whole bunch of players go to the big leagues last year. Thirteen of ’em, can you believe it? That’s more than the chickens I got in my coop! And they scored a whole mess of runs, too. Folks were sayin’ they were the best in the whole country. But even with all them fancy hitters, it’s the pitchers that win the games, ain’t it? You gotta keep the other team from scorin’, that’s just common sense.
This LSU pitcher, he’s got this fella, Crews, playin’ behind him in the outfield. They say that Crews is a real good hitter, gets on base all the time. But even with a good hitter like that, you still need a pitcher who can keep the other team off the scoreboard. And that’s what this LSU boy does, he shuts ’em down.
They say he’s got more strikeouts than a hen’s got feathers. I ain’t sure what a strikeout is exactly, but I reckon it’s a good thing for the pitcher. Means the batter didn’t hit the ball, right? And this boy, he does that a lot. They say he’s one of the best ever at LSU, and that’s sayin’ somethin’, ’cause LSU’s had some pretty good pitchers over the years.
Now, some folks were worried when all them players left for the big leagues. They thought maybe LSU wouldn’t be so good this year. But this pitcher, he’s stepped up and kept ’em winnin’. His coach, he says if this boy pitches a few more times, they got a real good chance to win it all. And that’s what everyone wants, ain’t it? To win the whole shebang.
They got some new fellas comin’ in too, young pitchers, left-handers they say. Lefty pitchers, they’re kinda tricky, like southpaw mules, you never know which way they’re gonna go. But this LSU pitcher, he’s the main man, the ace, they call him. He’s the one they count on to win the big games.
I heard some fella on the TV sayin’ this LSU pitcher is the best college pitcher he’s seen since some other fella way back when. I don’t remember the other fella’s name, but he musta been pretty good if they’re comparin’ him to this LSU boy. This boy is somethin’ special, that’s for sure. He throws hard, he throws strikes, and he don’t back down from nobody.
So, if you get a chance, go watch this LSU pitcher play. You won’t be disappointed. He’s a real treat to watch, like a firework show on the Fourth of July. And who knows, maybe he’ll lead LSU to another championship. That would be somethin’, wouldn’t it? A real feather in their cap, as they say.
Anyway, that’s all I gotta say about this LSU pitcher. He’s a good ‘un, and that’s the truth, plain and simple.
