Well, let me tell ya ’bout the 49ers back in 2014. That season, shoot, it was a real rollercoaster, like a bumpy ride on a dirt road, you know? They ended up 8 and 8, not too good, not too bad, just kinda… meh.
The Beginning and the End
Started out alright, I guess, but then things got kinda messy. They lost to them Seattle Seahawks in week 15, and that was it, no playoffs for them. First time since 2010, can you believe it? And then, that Jim Harbaugh fella, the coach, he and the team, they parted ways. Said it was “mutual,” but you know how these things go, probably some squabbling like chickens in the yard.
Games and Scores, Oh My!
They played a whole bunch of games, all over the place. You could watch ’em on TV, on that CBS, Fox, NBC, ESPN, and even that newfangled Prime Video thing. Nowadays, they got all sorts of fancy games, “Sunday Night Football,” “Monday Night Football,” even “Thursday Night Football.” Back then, it wasn’t always like that, you just watched when the game was on, simple as that.
- They won some, they lost some.
- Some games were close, others, not so much.
- I remember some folks gettin’ all riled up, cheerin’ and hollerin’, and others just grumbling and shakin’ their heads.
Training Camp and All That Jazz
They had this trainin’ camp over there in Santa Clara, California, right next to that Levi’s Stadium. Folks could go watch ’em practice, runnin’ around and throwin’ the ball. Started ’round 10:15, 10:20 in the mornin’ and went on ’til noon or so. Just a bunch of fellas gettin’ ready to play, sweat and all.
Looking Back
Now, they’re doin’ alright these days, goin’ to the playoffs and such. But back in 2014, they finished third in their division, the NFC West, and eighth in the whole NFC. Just kinda middle of the pack, like a plain ol’ cow in a herd. They weren’t the worst, but they weren’t the best neither.
The Roster and Stats
They had a whole bunch of players, some I remember, some I don’t. Young fellas, old fellas, all tryin’ their best. They got stats for everything these days, how far they run, how many times they catch the ball, all that jazz. Me? I just like watchin’ ’em play, seein’ if they win or lose. All them numbers just make my head spin.
The Schedule, Game by Game
You could find the whole schedule online, if you’re into that sort of thing. Every game, the date, the time, who they played. I reckon some folks like to plan their whole week around it, but me, I just turn on the TV and see what’s on. Sometimes I even forget what day it is, let alone what game is on!
So, What Happened?
So, that 2014 season, it was just kinda… there. Not much to write home about, you know? They were just alright, not great, not terrible, just… average. Like a bowl of oatmeal, not too hot, not too cold, just… lukewarm. But hey, that’s football, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes you just end up right smack in the middle.
Some folks were happy some folks weren’t, that’s life for ya. Just like when the corn grows tall some years and some years it’s a little short, you take what you get. Anyway, that was the forty-niners season back then, nothin’ too fancy but it was what it was.
