Hey everyone, I’ve been playing League of Legends for a while now, and I recently got curious about when it actually came out. So, I did a little digging and thought I’d share what I found and how I found it.
My Research Journey
First, I just started googling around. You know, the usual, “when did League of Legends come out” kind of stuff. I stumbled upon a few different places, but Wikipedia seemed like the best one to use at the time. From there I saw some good info but I kept looking for more specific information.
After that, I checked out some other results from different pages. Most of them didn’t have much new information, but one of them gave me some more details that were helpful. Here is what I found:
- July 10, 2009: This is when the Public Beta Environment (PBE) was announced. Think of it as a test server where players could try out new stuff before it went live. Sounds pretty cool, right?
So from there, I went back to Wikipedia to see what it said about the game’s development.
- League’s Inspiration: Apparently, the game was inspired by a Warcraft III mod called Defense of the Ancients. I used to play Warcraft III, so that’s pretty neat.
- Development Start: It seems like the creators of League, the founders of Riot Games, wanted to make their own game in the same genre as DotA. They started working on it sometime before 2009, and it grew from there.
- Release in 2009: The game officially launched in 2009. That’s a long time ago! It’s amazing how much it has changed since then.
And that was it! I read a lot more about what happened after the game came out, but that’s the gist of how I found the release date and a bit of the game’s early history. Hope you found this little journey as interesting as I did!
